AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 seed BYU (16-1-3) will make its first appearance in a Big 12 Soccer Championship final in its first season in the Conference after a 4-1 victory over No. 6 seed UCF (10-7-1) Wednesday evening.

Backed behind a brace from Olivia Wade-Katoa, the Cougars were up 3-0 heading in the half. Wade-Katoa scored her first goal of the evening in the 28^th minute followed by a second one seven minutes later.

The Cougars would score all of their goals in the first half as Brecken Mozingo and Ellie Walbruch netted goals in the 39^th and the 44^th minutes, respectively. Joining teammate Wade-Katoa, the pair all registered their 10^th goals of the season during the contest.

The BYU defense got called for a handball in the box, which led to UCF’s Katie Bradley converting a penalty kick in the 79^th minute. The senior would almost score another goal in the match, but was offsides.

UCF ended the match with 14 shots with forward Dayana Martin having a team high five.

The No. 2-seeded BYU Cougars will face the No. 4-seeded Texas Longhorns in the final match of the 2023 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m.

The match will feature flares that will go off every time a goal is scored as well as a confetti celebration at the conclusion of the contest.
