Texas’ Olivia Bray, Lydia Jacob and Carson Foster set all-time Conference records on the third day of the 2023 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center. The Longhorns remain at the top of both the Men’s (741) and Women’s (751) standings after winning all but one event Friday.
Bray was the first of the day to set a Big 12 standard as she made it three-in-a-row wins in the women’s 100 fly with a time of 50.07, breaking the record she set last year at the Big 12 Championship (51.03). For the men’s 100 fly, Sam Artmann collected his first Big 12 title as he became the third different Longhorn in the last three years to win the event (46.18).
Kelly Pash defended her crown when she won the 400 IM in a time of 4:05.55 while Foster cruised to a three-peat with a Conference record of 3:35.49 in the men’s race. Foster’s time is the second-fastest in the NCAA this season.
Kyla Leibel three-peated in the 200 free (1:45.8), improving on her time of 1:46.28 from a year ago, while Peter Larson collected his first career Big 12 title for the men’s side (1:32.95).
In the women’s 100 breast, Lydia Jacoby broke her own U.S. Age Group Record, which also set the all-time Big 12 record. Her time of 57.29 is the third-fastest in the country this season.
William Chan clocked a personal-best 51.65 to win the men’s 100 breast and to make it the fifth-straight year a Longhorn has won the event.
In the women’s 100 back, West Virginia’s Jacqueline McCutchan became the first Mountaineer in program history to capture the event and claimed her first career Big 12 title with a time of 54.14. UT’s Ethan Harder closed out the individual events for day three with a winning time of 46.39 in the men’s 100 back for his first career Big 12 title.
In the 3-meter dive, Texas’ Bridget O’Neil won her second Big 12 title in the event (398.55), with her first title coming back in 2021.
Texas men’s 200 free relay of Daniel Krueger, Peter Larson, William Chan and Caspar Corbeau re-claimed the event for the Longhorns (1:16.88) after TCU won the relay last year. The Texas women’s 200 free relay (Kelly Pash, Emma Sticklen, Grace Cooper and Ava Longi) continued UT’s first-place finish in the event that dates back to 2013 with a time of 1:28.30.
The top four individuals in each event are awarded All-Big 12 first team designation. The fifth-eighth place finishers are All-Big 12 second team. Full results can be viewed
