K-State’s Sundell, BU’s Littlepage-Buggs Selected For Big 12 WBB Weekly Awards

Kansas State’s Serena Sundell (player) and Baylor’s Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (freshman) were voted for the penultimate Big 12 women’s basketball weekly awards for games ending February 26.
 
Sundell averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals while shooting 73.9% from the field. Against Kansas, the sophomore guard scored 24 points, making 8 of her 10 field goals, adding seven assists, five rebounds, four steals and a block as the Wildcats defeated their Sunflower State rival 63-45. In the game against West Virginia, the Maryville, Missouri native had 21 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. It is her first career Player of the Week honor, after being selected as Freshman of the Week five times a season ago.
 
Littlepage-Buggs earned her seventh Freshman of the Week selection of the season, tying her with Joyner Holmes (Texas), Nina Davis (Baylor) and Brittney Griner (Baylor) for the second-most in Conference history. The forward averaged 11.0 points and 11.0 rebounds while helping the Bears to a 2-0 week. With 10 points and 14 rebounds against TCU, the Edmond, Oklahoma native recorded her ninth double-double in Big 12 play, surpassing Griner’s eight for the Baylor freshman record. She came off the bench against Texas Tech to score 12 points, shooting 62.5% from the field, and adding eight rebounds, as she remained the national leader among freshmen in rebound average (9.5).
