Texas sprinters Rhasidat Adeleke and Julien Alfred were named to the updated watch list for The Bowerman, announced Wednesday.
Adeleke makes her first-career appearance on the watch list after having a solid indoor season. The junior was leading the nation in the 400m before her time of 50.33 (set at the Big 12 ITF Championship) was bested by another NCAA student-athlete.
Alfred was a semifinalist for the award last season and has been named to the watch list six times in her career. She holds the top seven 60m times (six were set this season) and also has the second-fastest 200m time in NCAA history.
Both athletes will compete at the 2023 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico held March 10-11.
The Bowerman, the highest honor in collegiate track and field, has been awarded since 2009.
The next watch list update is set for March 22 (women) and March 23 (men).
