Eight Big 12 Cross Country Teams Listed in USTFCCCA Coaches Preseason Polls

The Conference had eight teams named to the USTFCCCA National Coaches’ Polls on Wednesday including three teams in the Top 5. BYU, Iowa State and Oklahoma State all landed both of their men’s and women’s programs in the polls.

Oklahoma State, who finished NCAA runner-up in 2022, starts the year at No. 2 on the men’s side while the Cowgirls sit at No. 3 to begin their season.

In its first season in the Big 12, BYU’s men’s program starts at No. 3 while its women’s program opens the year at No. 7.

The Cyclones appeared at No. 25 in the men’s rankings and No. 27 in the women’s poll.

Texas and West Virginia rounded out the eight Conference programs to be selected to the polls as Texas came in at No. 13 in the men’s rankings while West Virginia grabbed No. 29 in the women’s poll.

The Big 12 tied for the second-most men’s teams ranked in the Top-30 (four) and tied for the third-most on the women’s side (four).

The Big 12 landed 18 of its 26 programs in the USTFCCCA regional rankings released earlier this week, including eight men’s programs and 10 women’s programs.

The cross country season begins Friday, Sept. 1 with 19 Big 12 teams kicking off their seasons.
