After the second week of Big 12 gymnastics, Oklahoma’s Audrey Davis earned Gymnast of the Week, her teammate Hannah Scheible secured Event Specialist of the Week and Denver’s Madison Ulrich collected her second consecutive Newcomer honor.
Davis claimed her third career Gymnast of the Week award after garnering second place in the all-around with a score of 39.625 as the Sooners posted wins over No. 2 Utah, No. 5 LSU and No. 12 UCLA. The senior started the meet as the rotation leader for the vault exercise where she earned a 9.85 with a Yurchenko 1.5. Following vault, she recorded a career-high-tying 9.975 on the uneven bars. She also led off the Sooners in beam and floor and scored a 9.900 in both events. This week’s honor marks the seventh career Big 12 accolade for the communications major.
In her second career meet, Scheible became the first Big 12 gymnast this season to procure a 9.925 or higher on vault. Tied for third individually, her score led the Sooners to the highest total of 49.450 in the event amongst their competitors. Oklahoma earned the win over the three top 15 ranked teams with a 197.900 final score.
Ulrich is the first Pioneer to take the weekly award for first-year Big 12 gymnasts in consecutive weeks since the 2021 season. During the home meet against Arizona State, she raised her career high in beam and floor, scoring 9.875 and 9.900 in the events, respectively. After a teammate took a fall in her bar routine right before the freshman, Ulrich registered a 9.875 that helped the Denver rotation get back on track to outscore the Sun Devils in the event. The Fort Mill, South Carolina native placed second in the all-around and the floor exercise while finishing third on bars.
