Jayhawks Down Sun Devils 2-1 to Close Out First Round of Big 12 Soccer Championship

Wednesday’s slate of matches in the opening round of the 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship at CPKC Stadium concluded with No. 6 seed Kansas securing a 2-1 win over No. 11 seed Arizona State. 

The Jayhawks went up 2-0 in the contest following goals from Lexi Watts (16:55) and Caroline Castans (57:57).

ASU’s Pauline Nelles capped the night with five saves, tied for second-most grabbed by Big 12 goalies during the First Round. 

KU took 21 shots during the match, the second-most posted from a team in a Big 12 Championship match in the past four years. The Jayhawks will play No. 3 seed West Virginia on Saturday at 8 p.m. CT.
