K-State’s Aliyah Carter (offensive), BYU’s Brielle Kemavor (co-defensive), TCU’s Sarah Sylvester (co-defensive) and Cincinnati’s Faith Frame (rookie) earned weekly league volleyball recognition during the 12th week of the season.
Carter knocked down 22 kills to power K-State to a sweep over then-No. 18 TCU in front of a sold-out crowd in Manhattan. It was Carter’s eighth 20-kill match of the season and the Dubuque, Iowa native’s 25th career match with 20 kills or more, just one shy of tying for the second most all-time in Wildcat history. The graduate student finished the week leading the league in kills per set (6.00), total kills (36) and points per set (6.33). Her kills per set were the eighth highest nationally across Division I while her average of 6.33 points per set ranked 10th. This is her 11th career weekly Conference award, tied for the seventh most all-time.
Kemavor finished tied for the Conference lead with a team-high 13 total blocks during the week. The middle blocker recorded a match-high nine blocks, including three solo blocks, in BYU’s win at UCF before tallying four blocks in a sweep at Houston. This is Kemavor’s second Defensive Player of the Week title this season.
Sylvester tallied 13 rejections during the week and is one of five players in the Big 12 this season with over 100 blocks on the season. She recorded seven rejections on the road at No. 11 Kansas and had six at K-State to earn her second career league weekly title and first since Sept. 12, 2023.
Frame led the Big 12 in digs per set during the week with a mark of 6.29. The freshman notched a career-high 29 digs against Arizona, her fourth career 20-dig match. Frame has posted double-digit digs in 18 matches this season and has earned three Rookie of the Week honors this season.
