Braces from BYU’s Krommenhoek and Fryer Advance Cougars to Semifinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fourth-seeded BYU advances to the semifinals of the 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Championship at CPKC Stadium after defeating the No. 5 seed Oklahoma State 5-1 following multiple goals from BYU midfielder Mika Krommenhoek and forward Allie Fryer.

Krommenhoek attacked early, recording her goals at the 1:09 and 4:59 minute marks before Fryer’s goals at the 22nd and 29th minute. Krommenhoek also earned an assist as Fryer scored her second goal.

The Cougars’ final goal of the match would come from Mackenzee Vance in the 48th minute.

Oklahoma State tallied four shots on goal with their best scoring chance coming in the 60th minute. The Cowgirls were awarded a penalty kick after a handball. BYU goalkeeper Lynette Hernaez deflected the kick from OSU’s Xcaret Pineda before a second shot flew over the goal.

The Cowgirls (14-4-3) will wait until the NCAA Tournament Selection show on Nov. 11 to learn their fate as BYU (9-5-5) will face the winner of TCU versus Colorado on Wednesday.
