TCU’s Diorio, TTU’s Blackburn Announced as MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalists

TCU’s Bella Diorio and Texas Tech’s Macy Blackburn were two of 15 semifinalists for the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy, announced Wednesday by United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club. The semifinalists were voted by DI women’s soccer coaches.

The pair continues the Big 12’s streak of having at least one player named a semifinalist since the 2013 season and follows last year’s five selections.

Diorio, the 2024 Big 12 Forward of the Year, posted the league’s second-most 11 goals during the season. Also earning All-Conference First Team designation, she was the Horned Frogs’ third leading-goal scorer and posted 26 points in 23 matches. The sophomore is the fourth MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist from the TCU program following Messiah Bright (2021), Emily Alvarado (2020) and Yazmeen Ryan (2020).

Blackburn is the second TTU defender to be named a semifinalist in consecutive years. The redshirt junior led the team in assists (10) after making 19 appearances. During the season, she became the program’s all-time assist leader (33). Blackburn earned the 2024 Big 12 Defender of the Year award as the Red Raiders held its regular season opponents to 11 goals and 18 to conclude the 2024 campaign.

Diorio and Blackburn were also tabbed to United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region First Team which featured 10 First Team selections from the Big 12 and 28 total honorees between Midwest Region’s four teams.

Three finalists will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 11 with the recipient being announced Jan. 3, 2025.

Fan voting is open until Dec. 9 at MACHermannTrophy.org.
