UCF’s Ashleigh Griffin (Player) and Sarah Willis (Pitcher) earned league softball honors for Week 10, becoming the first players in program history to receive a weekly Big 12 award. The duo helped the Knights to a 4-0 week while extending the league’s longest active winning streak to nine games, as well as the Big 12’s longest active Conference win streak to six in a row. UCF joins Oklahoma and Texas as the three schools to sweep both weekly league honors so far this season.

Griffin reached base safely in each of her four games as UCF took a midweek contest over Jacksonville before defeating Houston for the Knights’ second straight league series sweep. The redshirt sophomore hit a home run in each game against the Cougars and had seven RBIs to go with four walks, six runs and six hits for the week. The kinesiology major’s total bases (15) and slugging percentage (1.500) led all Big 12 players during the week.

Willis threw a six-inning complete-game one-hit shutout in the Knights’ 9-0 series opener against Houston before posting five innings in the third game. The 2023 NFCA DI All-Region First Team member’s two wins during the week tied for the most of any league pitcher. She limited the Cougars to a .171 batting average in her two starts while posting a 1.27 ERA, the lowest of any Big 12 pitcher to throw six or more innings in Week 10. The human communications major also collected the 200^th strikeout of her UCF career over the weekend, becoming the ninth pitcher in program history to eclipse the 200-strikeout plateau.
