BYU’s Morrow and OU’s Deal Collect Weekly Big 12 Softball Honors

BYU’s Hailey Morrow (Player) and Oklahoma’s Kierston Deal (Pitcher) earned league softball accolades for the 11th week of the season. Morrow is the first softball player from BYU to secure a Big 12 weekly award.

Morrow led the Cougars to a 4-0 week including a sweep of Iowa State, BYU’s first league sweep. The sophomore majoring in exercise science (pre-med) led all league hitters for the week in batting average (.583), slugging percentage (1.583), hits (7), home runs (4), RBIs (10), runs scored (6) and total bases (19). The Las Vegas native also recorded a perfect fielding percentage during the week on 21 chances.

Deal was lights-out in the circle for the Sooners last week, firing her first career solo no-hitter against Tulsa before tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout to secure an OU series sweep over Houston. Through her two starts, the sophomore from Winston-Salem, North Carolina worked 13 scoreless frames with just one walk while striking out 14. Opponents were just 2-for-41 against the left-hander for a .049 batting average.  This is Deal’s first Conference weekly honor.
