Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas are set for the 2024 Women’s College World Series held May 30-June 6/7 at OGE Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
The Big 12 has the most teams of any league in this year’s field and the 60% percent of the Conference’s NCAA selections making the WCWS is the highest percentage by any league. The Conference is one of two leagues to have at least two teams make it to the WCWS every year since 2019 and it is the second time in the last three seasons the Big 12 has had at least three teams make it to OKC.
All three teams will be in action May 30, with Oklahoma opening against Duke at 1:30 p.m. CT on ESPN, followed by Texas facing Stanford at 6 p.m. CT and then Oklahoma State taking on Florida at 8:30 p.m. CT. Both evening games will be featured on ESPN2.
Each Big 12 team has already won games this season against the teams they open the WCWS against. OU beat Duke 3-0 in the second game of the season in Mexico, OSU won 3-0 at Florida and Texas split two games with Stanford, including a 9-2 victory in Clearwater, Florida.
Top-seeded Texas won a thrilling three-game series over 16th-seeded Texas A&M in Austin to advance to the Longhorns’ second WCWS in the last three years. The 2,214 fans packed into McCombs Field for the third game is the stadium’s single-game attendance record.
No. 2 seed Oklahoma is making its eighth straight and 17th overall appearance at the WCWS after sweeping No. 15 seed Florida State in Super Regionals. The Sooners are vying to become the first softball program to win four straight NCAA titles.
Fifth-seeded OSU is making its fifth-straight WCWS trip after taking both games over future Big 12 member Arizona in Super Regionals.
The Big 12 comes into the week with a 27-26 record in non-conference Top 25 matchups while the league holds a 44-34 mark against Power Five competition this season.
Entering the WCWS, Texas’ Reese Atwood is just two RBIs away from tying the single-season Big 12 record held by Tiare Jennings (92, 2021). OU’s Jayda Coleman is two runs away from tying the career Big 12 mark of 281 runs scored by former Sooner Jocelyn Alo.
The WCWS is a double-elimination format followed by a best-of-three championship series. The full bracket can be found
