BU’s Francis and BYU’s Garnett Named Big 12’s 2025 Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week

Baylor’s Demar Francis (men’s) and BYU’s Maren Garnett (women’s) earned the first set of the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the 2025 season.

Francis crossed the finish line first in the men’s 200-meters at the McFerrin-12 Degree Invitationals. He clocked a time of 20.93 seconds, which sits as the nation’s second-fastest time posted this season. This is the graduate student’s first indoor weekly award and his second overall Big 12 track honor.

Garnett cleared 4.45 meters in the pole vault to claim the event’s title at BYU’s Cougar Invitational. Her mark surpassed the program’s previous all-time leading record of 4.40 meters. The senior holds the best mark in NCAA Division I on the women’s side, which is dominated by the Big 12 claiming the top three marks so far this season. Garnett is the first Cougar to earn a Big 12 track and field weekly accolade.
