BYU’s Gibb and Utah’s Kneepkens Claim Big 12 WBB Week 12 Honors

Utah’s Gianna Kneepkens (player) and BYU’s Delaney Gibb (freshman) collected weekly Big 12 women’s basketball honors following the 12th week of the 2024-25 season. Kneepkens is the first weekly Conference women’s basketball award winner from Utah while this is Gibb’s third consecutive and fifth Freshman of the Week title in the last six weeks.

Kneepkens put up back-to-back 30-point games during the week, dropping 30 in a 79-61 win over Kansas before scoring a career-high 32 points in an 81-76 road rivalry victory over BYU. The junior finished just shy of a triple-double against the Jayhawks adding a season-high in both rebounds (10) and assists (8) while posting a career-high 66.7 field goal percentage (12-18). The guard from Duluth, Minnesota had a career-high of 10 made free throws against the Cougars while going 8-of-16 from the field, 6-of-7 from three and adding eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. Kneepkens’ 31.0 points per game led league players during the week and ranked fourth in the country.

Gibb was atop the Conference freshmen leaderboards during the week in points (19.5) and assists (4.5) while shooting 45.5% from the field and 50% from downtown. The guard led the Cougars in both games against Iowa State and Utah in points, rebounds and assists and was the highest-rebounding freshman Conference guard with 5.0 rebounds per game.  This is Gibb’s sixth Freshman of the Week recognition, just one away from tying for the third most all-time.
