IRVING, Texas –
In partnership with the Maya Angelou Estate, the Big 12 Conference will honor the legacy of the renowned writer and civil rights activist throughout Black History Month. Big 12 basketball student-athletes will wear shooting shirts throughout February featuring one of Angelou’s most iconic lines: “If you’re going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can’t be erased.

In addition to celebrating Dr. Maya Angelou, the Big 12 Conference will commemorate Black History Month by recognizing Black Coaches Day on February 4. The Conference will also launch a Big 12 Studios series titled “Watch Her Game”, which will highlight the stories and impacts of Black female student-athletes across the league.
