The Big 12 has released a media preseason poll for women’s basketball ahead of the season, which was voted on by Big 12 and national media members.
TCU topped the poll, followed by Iowa State, Baylor and Oklahoma State in the top four. West Virginia, K-State, Kansas and Utah were selected fifth through eighth, while Colorado, BYU, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Arizona, UCF and Houston rounded out the poll.
The Horned Frogs were also the favorite in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches’ Poll, while the Cyclones featured the Conference’s Preseason Player of the Year, Audi Crooks. The full list of preseason coaches’ honors can be found
here.
The top four teams in the media poll are also the league’s representatives in the Preseason AP Top 25 Poll, marking the second consecutive season with four Big 12 teams in the preseason Top 25.
The Big 12 has had at least seven teams make the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons, while the league had five teams win at least 25 games in 2024-25, tied for the most among all Division I conferences. The Conference led the nation last year with a .743 home winning percentage (200-69).
The regular season will begin Monday, Nov. 3, with league action set to start Saturday, Dec. 20. All 16 teams will head to the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City at the end of the season to compete for the league’s postseason title at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, March 4-8/9.
The men's basketball media preseason poll will be released Thursday, Oct. 30.
