Big 12 Soccer’s Eight Selections to NCAA Tournament Ties Conference Record

Baylor, BYU, UCF, Colorado, Kansas, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia earned seeded bids to the 64-team field of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, tying the league’s most representation in the tournament as eight teams were selected in 2003. All eight teams qualified for the 2025 Big 12 Soccer Tournament presented by Allstate.

BYU, CU, KU, TCU, TTU and WVU were selected to last season’s tournament as part of the seven Big 12 teams that earned bids a season ago.

All eight teams will be in action on Friday with UCF, Kansas, Texas Tech and West Virginia playing at 6 p.m. CT and Baylor, BYU, Colorado and TCU kicking off at 7 p.m. CT.

TCU secured a No. 2 seed after claiming its second consecutive Big 12 regular season title. This season’s appearance marks the second-straight and ninth overall NCAA Tournament selection for the program. The Horned Frogs (15-2-2), a host of the Big 12 Soccer Tournament, welcome Grambling to Fort Worth with a first-round matchup.

No. 3 seed Colorado (15-3-3) faces Utah Valley in the first round of the NCAA. The Buffaloes look forward to their 15th overall and third straight appearance in the postseason event. In 21 games this season, 52 goals have been scored by CU.

KU (14-5-3), a No. 3 seed, will make its second consecutive and third overall back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearance, facing California Baptist. The Jayhawks made it to the Big 12 Tournament championship match after claiming the title last season. The team’s 14 wins so far this season are the third-most victories in a single season in program history.

Baylor (12-4-4) claimed a No. 5 seed, marking the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018. The Bears, the host of the 2025 Big 12 Soccer Tournament championship match, will host a game of their own at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field, welcoming Texas State to Waco for a first-round matchup.

The Cougars captured the Big 12’s automatic qualifier after winning the Big 12 Soccer Tournament, the first No. 8 seed to win the league’s postseason title. BYU was awarded a No. 5 seed ahead of the program’s 26th overall and eighth consecutive NCAA appearance. Currently on a four-game winning streak, the Cougars (11-6-4) will host Utah State for the second time this season.

No. 6 seed TTU makes its third straight and 10th overall bid to the NCAA Tournament field, all happening in the past 13 seasons. The Red Raiders, who enter the tournament with a 13-2-4 record, will host UTSA.

The No. 7-seeded Knights (11-3-5) mark their first NCAA Tournament appearance as a Big 12 program, last earning a bid in 2022. UCF went 5-1-5 during league play, while conceding the fewest seven goals. The team in Orlando will continue the postseason at home against Maine.

WVU rounded out the league’s bids, earning the No. 7 seed ahead of the program’s 24th overall NCAA appearance. The Mountaineers went 8-0-3 during Big 12 play, the only team in the league to remain unbeaten during the 11-game slate. It marked the team’s fifth time without a loss during the Conference slate since joining the Big 12 in 2012. WVU hosts Wagner.

First round matches will be played Friday, Nov. 14, through Sunday, Nov. 16. Second and Third round matches will be contested Thursday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Nov. 23, respectively, with quarterfinals scheduled for Nov. 28 and 29.

Four of the 64 teams in the field will advance to the 2025 NCAA DI Women’s College Cup, which will be held Dec. 5 and 8 at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., the home of the Kansas City Current and the site of the 2024 Big 12 Soccer Championship.
