Baylor’s Taliah Scott (player) and Oklahoma State’s Lena Girardi (freshman) earned Big 12 women’s basketball weekly honors for the first week of the 2025-26 season. Iowa State’s Audi Crooks, Kansas’ Jaliya Davis and Texas Tech’s Jalynn Bristow joined Scott and Girardi in garnering recognition in the first Big 12 Starting Five, which highlights other strong performances from across the league. Honorees were determined by a panel of media members who cover Big 12 basketball.
Scott led the scoring efforts for the now top 10-ranked Bears in wins over then-No. 7 Duke and Lindenwood in her 16th and 17th career games over the 20-point mark. The guard from Orange Park, Florida's 24 points against the Blue Devils are the most in a victory against a top 25 team this season. Scott then scored 29 points while shooting 56.3% in Baylor’s home opener against the Lions, including a 5-of-10 look from beyond the arc.
Girardi helped the No. 20 Cowgirls open with a 4-0 start during the season’s opening week. The freshman from Purchase, New York finished with 15.5 points per game during the week, while averaging 4.3 rebounds per game. The guard tied the league’s freshman record with nine 3-pointers against Langston in a 29-point outing, the most points in a single game by a freshman so far this season.
Crooks averaged 23.3 points per game while shooting 70% from the floor, while Davis scored in double figures in both of the first two games of her career and Bristow ranked tied for first in the league with 10 blocks after the first week of play.
