ARIZ’s Altmeyer and UCF’s Felton Earn First Set of 2025 Big 12 Softball Weekly Awards

Arizona’s Kaiah Altmeyer (player) and UCF’s Kaitlyn Felton (pitcher) were tabbed the Conference’s Players of the Week during the opening week of the 2025 softball season.

Altmeyer recorded the league’s best batting average (.667), on-base percentage (.773) and slugging percentage (1.000) as the Wildcats went 5-1 which included ranked wins over then-No. 11 Alabama and then-No. 22 Washington. During the week, the utility player from San Diego recorded at least one hit in every contest with her going 3-for-4 in the season opener against Michigan State. She tied her single-game record of three RBIs during the 9-1 win over Alabama as she hit a bases-clearing double. Altmeyer recorded 10 hits during the week, the second-most by any Big 12 batter, only two shy of tying teammate Dakota Kennedy’s 12.

Felton pitched 10.2 innings over three appearances. She recorded a save as the Knights beat NC State 3-1 before she tallied a complete game against Illinois during the 4-0 victory. The senior from Valrico, Florida got the last two outs in the contest against then-No. 12 Georgia, stranding the bases loaded to keep the deficit a 4-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. Felton finished the week with a 0.00 ERA and only allowed four hits. This is her first Big 12 weekly award while she is the second UCF pitcher to claim a Big 12 honor.
