TCU’s Mayberry and TTU’s Brown Collect Big 12 ITF Athletes of the Week Accolades

TCU’s Indya Mayberry (women’s) and Texas Tech’s Shawn Brown (men’s) earned weekly honors as the pair were tabbed Big 12 Indoor Track and Field’s Athletes of the Week.

Mayberry won the 200 meters at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, running the event with a world-leading time of 22.41 seconds. Her time broke a program record in just her second collegiate run in the event. She also ran the prelim and the semifinal rounds of the women’s 60 meters at the meet in 7.16 seconds. The freshman from Fort Worth already owns this season’s fastest time in the event, setting a mark of 7.13 seconds in January. She finished her weekend as a leg in the women’s 4x400m. Mayberry is the first Horned Frog to capture a women’s weekly indoor track and field honor since joining the league in 2013.

With the Red Raiders also competing at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, Brown competed in the men’s 60-meter dash. He placed first in the event beating out a trio from USC and a runner from Arizona who all finished within the top 5. He registered a mark of 6.52 seconds, which was altitude-converted to the NCAA’s third-fastest time this season of 6.54 seconds. This is the Butler CC transfer's first Big 12 weekly award.
