BYU and OSU Student-Athletes Tabbed Big 12 ITF’s Weekly Award Winners

BYU’s Meghan Hunter (co-women’s) and Riley Chamberlain (co-women’s) along with Oklahoma State’s Fouad Messaoudi (men’s) were named Big 12’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Hunter claimed a first-place finish in the women’s 800-meters at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. Crossing the finish line at 2:00.21, her mark broke a BYU program record and sits at No. 5 on the NCAA all-time list. This is the senior’s first weekly honor.

Chamberlain ran the women’s mile in 4:26.19 at the John Terrier Classic. Running against professionals, she placed third and was the only collegiate athlete to finish in the top five. The junior’s mark also landed on the NCAA all-time list at No. 5. This is her first Big 12 award as she is the third Cougar to earn an indoor track and field honor this season.

Messaoudi collected a first-place finish in the men’s mile at the Razorback Invitational. His time of 3:52.66 not only broke a program record but also broke the meet record of 3:57.97 that was set in 2019. The 2023 Big 12 Championship men’s mile winner earns his second career indoor track and field accolade.
