FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Arizona State swept the men’s and women’s team titles at the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship. The Sun Devils clinched the men’s title with 1,912 points, while their women’s team finished with 1,695 points.
Arizona finished runner-up in both standings as the women’s team tallied 1,240 points and the men’s team finished with 1,301. Houston rounded out the top three in the women’s standings (1,211.5) while Utah (1,153.5) finished third in the men’s team standings.
Arizona State swept the swimming “of the meet” awards as Julia Ullmann (women’s swimming freshman), Caroline Bentz (women’s swimmer), Lucien Vergnes (men’s swimming freshman) and Jonny Kulow (men’s swimmer) earned the Conference awards for the Championship. The diving awards were split by TCU’s duo of Anna Kwong (women’s diver) and David Ekdahl (men’s diver), Arizona’s Colin Agor (men’s diving freshman) and Utah’s Callie Eaglestone (women’s diving freshman).
Ullmann took home three podium finishes including the 100 butterfly event title in 51.40. Bentz powered ahead of the competition in the 100 (51.22) and 200 backstroke (1:51.89) events to win gold. Vergnes finished second with a time of 45.46 in the 100 backstroke in his first year in collegiate competition while Kulow secured both freestyle sprint events with a time of 18.64 in the 50 freestyle and 41.07 in the 100 freestyle.
Kwong finished with the gold in the women’s 3-meter dive, silver in the 1-meter dive and helped TCU to a bronze finish in the women’s team event. Ekdahl swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and added a third gold medal as a part of TCU’s diving squad in the men’s team event. Agor finished fifth in the 3-meter diving A-final and added a silver medal as a part of Arizona’s athletes in the men’s team diving event. Eaglestone rounded out the awards after competing in each of the women’s A-finals in all three women’s individual diving events and ending the Championship with the bronze medal in the platform dive.
In the women’s 200 backstroke, ASU’s Caroline Bentz paced the final with a swim in 1:51.89, while Utah’s Norah Hay (1:53.79) and Arizona’s Kayman Neal (1:53.85) took second and third, respectively. Cincinnati’s Hunter Gubeno (1:40.38) captured gold in the men’s 200 backstroke, with Arizona’s Will Meyers (1:40.81) and West Virginia’s Danny Berlitz (1:41.20) also reaching the podium.
Arizona’s Julia Wozniak (48.56) and Riley Botton (48.77) punched the fastest two times in the women’s 100 freestyle, pushing Ullmann (ASU) to third place and the bronze medal (48.82). On the men’s side, ASU’s Jonny Kulow posted a meet-record time of 41.07 for the event crown, followed by teammate Patrick Sammon (41.39) and Arizona’s Tomas Lukminas (41.97).
Arizona State’s Deniz Ertan (16:01.31) hit the timing pads first in the women’s 1650 freestyle, finishing ahead of teammate Alexa Reyna (16:23.30) and Arizona’s Malia Rausch (16:36.77). ASU’s Daniel Matheson clocked a time of 14:46.53 to win the distance event for the men, while Jacob Pins (14:54.41) gave the Sun Devils the 1-2 finish. Nick Chirafisi (15:02.28) secured third place, earning the Utes the bronze.
The women’s 200 breaststroke saw BYU’s Mackenzie Miller (2:06.53) finish first, ahead of Houston’s Flo Peter (2:09.91) and TCU’s Nina Vadovicova (2:09.99). ASU’s Andy Dobrzanski (1:51.93) won the men’s 200 breaststroke, with fellow Sun Devil Oscar Bilbao (1:52.31) and Arizona’s Tavner Wisdom (1:53.95) rounding out the top three.
The women’s platform diving title went to ASU’s Kayden Hayes (251.60) while Houston’s Michelle McLeod (247.60) and Utah’s Eaglestone (240.75) finished as the top three divers.
Arizona State’s women’s team won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:13.64, holding off Arizona (3:15.62) and Cincinnati (3:17.39). The Sun Devils claimed the men’s relay title as well, with a time of 2:44.03, breaking the Conference record in the event by over a second, ahead of Arizona (2:49.41) and BYU (2:51.19).
The top four individuals in each event earned All-Big 12 first-team honors, while fifth through eighth-place finishers were named to the second team. Full results can be viewed
