WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Utah claimed the Big 12 regular season and Championship titles during its debut season in the Conference after the Red Rocks tallied a score of 197.775 at the 2025 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship held at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
This year was the first multiple-session format for the league as the afternoon meet saw teams ranked 5-7 (BYU, Iowa State and West Virginia) based on National Qualifying Score before the evening session featured the top-four teams (Arizona, Arizona State, Denver and Utah).
Utah placed four in all four events during its winning performance. Arizona finished second with a score of 196.675 followed by Denver (196.400), BYU (196.275), Arizona State (195.975), Iowa State (195.775) and West Virginia (194.875).
The Red Rocks’ Grace McCallum claimed the all-around title with a score of 39.550 as she shared the vault title (9.900) with teammate Ashley Glynn along with Denver’s Mila Brusch and Bella Mabanta. BYU’s Anna Bramblett-Wilde and Utah’s Makenna Smith split the bars title with a score of 9.925. The Big 12 champion added three more individual event winners as Avery Neff and Ana Padurariu tied for first on the balance beam (9.950) and Smith won the floor title outright (9.925).
Utah earned two Big 12 season awards as Grace McCallum and Avery Neff were announced as Gymnast and Newcomer of the Year, respectively. McCallum, a senior from Isanti, Minnesota, registered a national qualifying score (NQS) of 39.605 to lead the Conference in the all-around and eighth nationally. McCallum claimed 22 event wins between the all-around, bars, beam and floor this season while she earned a selection to five 2025 All-Big 12 gymnastics teams and was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week three times this season.
Neff suffered an injury during the start of Conference play that sidelined her for a few weeks and came back to compete in all four events by the end of the regular season. She was selected to Big 12 Gymnastics’ inaugural All-Freshman Team after earning the Conference’s newcomer weekly accolade three times this year.
Specialist of the Year honors were shared between Arizona’s Elena Deets and BYU’s Brynlee Andersen. Deets specialized in beam and bars for the GymCats this season, earning seven wins between the two events in 2025 and registering a season-high score of 9.925 on both apparatuses. The 5
th year gymnast was named Specialist of the Week twice and earned a selection to the 2025 All-Big 12 Uneven Bars Team.
Andersen excelled on beam for the Cougars during the 2025 campaign as she captured four event titles and tallied a career-high 9.95 this season. The sophomore earned a selection to the All-Big 12 Beam Team with a national NQS ranking at No. 18. Andersen tallied three Big 12 event specialist honors this season.
BYU’s Eliza Millar-Crossman collected her second-consecutive Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming the first gymnast to win the honor in back-to-back seasons since it was first awarded during the 2013 season. Millar-Crossman, a senior studying neuroscience with a 3.98 GPA, has competed in every meet for BYU this season.
Arizona’s John Court rounded out this season’s yearly awards as he was named the Coach of the Year. The Wildcats went 5-1 during the Conference’s inaugural schedule during Court’s seventh season as head coach. Arizona, currently ranked No. 21 (NQS), opened the season voted at No. 31 on the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
The league’s head coaches voted on the yearly awards and were prohibited from voting their own student-athletes.
