UCF’s Isabella Vega (pitcher) and Utah’s Kennedy Proctor (player) earned Big 12 weekly honors for their performances in games played during Week 8.
Vega pitched for the Knights against then-No. 3 Florida before throwing in two games against Conference opponent Baylor. The right-handed pitcher led UCF to its first shutout (4-0) against a top-three ranked team since 2021 as the redshirt freshman held the Gators to five hits during her fourth complete game this season. She then opened the series against the Bears in the circle, holding BU to one unearned run on four hits. Vega ended the week by earning a save as the Knights posted a 7-2 win. The Bradenton, Florida native pitched 17.0 innings and led the league last week with a 0.41 ERA while she recorded the third-most strikeouts (18) in the Conference. Vega is the second pitcher from the Knights program to earn the league’s Pitcher of the Week honor during the 2025 season.
Proctor posted the league’s second-best weekly batting average at .600 in 10 appearances at the plate in Utah’s series versus Houston. Her two hits in the series opener were a double and a triple that scored two runs and drove in three more during the 14-3 victory. She then hit two home runs as the Utes clinched the series with a 12-9 win. Her final game of the week drove in two runs with her third home run of the week. She finished the week with the second-most RBI (9) in the Conference while leading the league with a 1.800 slugging average. The freshman is the first from Utah to collect a Big 12 weekly award during its debut season in the league.
