BYU and OSU Share Big 12 Softball Weekly Accolades

BYU’s Keila Kamoku (player) and Oklahoma State’s Ruby Meylan (pitcher) were tabbed the Big 12’s Players of the Week for their play in Week 11’s slate.

Kamoku helped the Cougars finish the week with a 4-0 record, including a series sweep against Utah and a victory over Fresno State. In 15 plate appearances, the senior posted a .600 batting average and a .625 on-base percentage as she recorded nine hits and six runs. During Saturday’s game, Kamoku’s final hit of the night helped score two crucial runs for the Cougars as teammate Aleia Agbayani, who recorded a three-run walk-off home run later in the inning, crossed home plate. The Kapolei, Hawai’i native tallied three RBI apiece in each game against the in-state rival. This is her first Big 12 weekly honor.

Meylan pitched a complete game in each of the Cowgirls’ wins against UCF as OSU took the series 2-1 in Orlando. She shut out the Knights 7-0 in the series opener, only allowing one hit and one walk before she held off UCF from outscoring OSU in extra innings during the series finale. In 15.0 innings inside the circle, the junior led the Conference during the week with a combined 20 strikeouts while holding a 1.40 ERA after three earned runs.  This is the Washington transfer’s third weekly Big 12 accolade this season.
