Utah Moves on to the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship Semifinals

The Utah gymnastics team advanced to the 2025 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship, making its 49th consecutive appearance during the program’s 50th season. This season’s championship will be April 17-19 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

In its Big 12 debut season, No. 4 seed Utah advanced along with No. 5 seed UCLA to the national semifinals after placing first with a score of 197.825 during the Salt Lake Regional Final. The Red Rocks outlasted Denver and No. 12 seed Minnesota in the regional’s final quad. Utah will face No. 1 seed LSU, No. 5 UCLA and No. 8 Michigan State in the national semifinal on April 17. The quad meet will be at 3:30 p.m. CT/2:30 p.m. MDT or 8 p.m. CT/7 p.m. MDT.

The 2025 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, Grace McCallum, was named the regional’s bars champion as she registered a perfect 10 in the event. She was joined by the league’s 2025 Newcomer of the Year, Avery Neff, in earning regional accolades, as the freshman was tabbed the vault champion and shared the All-Around title.

The Pioneers upset No. 13 Stanford in the Second Round, tying for first place with Conference opponent Utah with a score of 197.650 to advance to the regional final. The Big 12 affiliate member led for the first two rotations in the regional final against Minnesota, UCLA and Utah before finishing in third place.

BYU was the league’s third team that qualified for the Salt Lake City Regional. The Cougars outlasted Utah State in a play-in dual before they competed against Conference opponents Utah and Denver and Stanford in the Second Round.

In the Seattle Regional final, Arizona placed fourth in the quad against No. 2 seed Oklahoma, No. 7-seeded Missouri and No. 15-seed Auburn. The regional final appearance was a first for the program since the regionals format was introduced in 2019. En route to the Seattle Regional final, the GymCats tallied 196.250, placing second behind Missouri and ahead of Arizona State and Georgia.

The Gym Devils, in its seventh consecutive NCAA regional appearance, placed fourth in the Seattle Regionals’ first Second Round quad meet.

Competing in the University Park Regional, West Virginia fell to Maryland in the First Round’s play-in dual meet.  The Mountaineers’ Karleigh DiCello, Anna Leigh and Sophia Rice later competed as individual event specialists during the regional’s Second Round.

Iowa State’s Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa, Noelle Adams, Haylee Hardin and Frederique Sgarbossa concluded their 2025 season as they competed as individual event specialists in the Salt Lake Regional.
