Five Big 12 Softball Teams Earn Bids to NCAA Tournament

For the second consecutive season, five Big 12 teams were selected to the NCAA Softball Tournament’s field of 64. Arizona, Arizona State, UCF, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech rounded out the league’s selections for the 2025 postseason.

The Big 12 regular season and postseason champions, No. 12 seed Texas Tech earned a home regional, hosting in Lubbock. In their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019, the Red Raiders will face Brown at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday. The Lubbock Regional will also include Washington and Mississippi State. Texas Tech clinched the Conference’s automatic bid after winning the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship.

Arizona earned the No. 13 seed, rounding out the league’s host teams. The Wildcats will stay in Tucson and face Santa Clara on Friday in a regional that includes Grand Canyon and Ole Miss. Arizona posted the second-place finish during Conference play and made the Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship final during their debut season in the league.

Oklahoma State earned a selection to the Fayetteville Regional, marking the Cowgirls’ ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. OSU is looking to reach its sixth consecutive Super Regionals and will open regional play with Indiana Friday at 3 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The regional also features host and national No. 4 seed Arkansas and Saint Louis.

Arizona State earned an at-large bid and will make its first appearance in the field since 2022. The Sun Devils head to Los Angeles to face San Diego State for a Friday night matchup on ESPNU at 7 p.m. MST.

UCF was selected as an at-large bid to the Austin Regional, becoming one of three Big 12 teams in the NCAA Tournament for the past three consecutive years. The Knights mark their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, facing Michigan on Friday.

Regionals will be held May 16-18 with each site hosting a four-team, double-elimination tournament. The 16 winning teams will advance to the super regionals.
