IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State’s Brayden Smith (player and newcomer) and Kansas’ Dominic Voegele (pitcher) took home the final set of Big 12 Baseball weekly awards for their play in the final weekend of Conference play.
Smith earned his first honors of the season for his play in the Cowboys’ sweep of Arizona State by going 8-for-12 at the plate with three doubles, two home runs and six RBI while stealing four bases. He matched his career high with four hits in the second game of the series before collecting three hits and stealing home in the series finale. The Omaha, Nebraska native also reached base safely in nine consecutive plate appearances and helped his team earn their third sweep in league play.
Winning his third weekly honor in 2025, Voegele threw seven scoreless innings in a victory over first-place West Virginia. He scattered six hits, struck out six batters and didn’t issue a walk in the decision. Voegele retired the first eight Mountaineers he faced on Thursday in Morgantown as he propelled the Jayhawks to their Big 12-leading sixth shutout of the season. Voegele has been a key part of KU’s historic season that includes 42 wins and 20 Conference wins as the Jayhawks have now won 30 or more games in consecutive seasons for the first time since the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
