Runners from BU, BYU and OSU Earn Recognition as The Bowerman Semifinalists

Baylor’s Nathaniel Ezekiel, BYU’s James Corrigan and Oklahoma State’s Brian Musau have been announced as semifinalists for The Bowerman Award, the most prestigious NCAA track and field award. All three runners were named USTFCCCA Regional Men’s Track Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season, while the trio extends the Conference’s streak of two or more men’s semifinalists to four consecutive years.

Ezekiel is the first Baylor Bear to be named a semifinalist since KC Lightfoot in 2021. He claimed the men’s 400-meter hurdle title at the NCAA Outdoor Championship with a personal best time of 47.49 seconds. His winning time also became the third fastest in NCAA all-time history, which places him as the second Big 12 sprinter to own a top-three mark in the event’s history. Throughout the season, the senior from Delta State, Nigeria, has posted four different top-eight all-time NCAA records. Ezekiel was named USTFCCCA’s National Men’s Track Athlete of the Year. He has been listed on The Bowerman Watchlist updates since March after earning runner-up in the men’s 400-meter dash at the NCAA Indoor Championship.

Corrigan captured the men’s steeplechase title at the NCAA Championship with the fourth fastest time in collegiate history (8:16.41). Before the NCAAs at the Big 12 Championship, he defended his steeplechase Big 12 title and claimed the 5,000-meter crown, breaking Big 12 meet records in both events. The Los Angeles native made his debut appearance on The Bowerman Watchlist in March and has been featured in four watchlist updates this season. Corrigan is the Cougars’ second semifinalist in program history following Kenneth Rooks in 2023.

Musau makes his career debut on any The Bowerman list after receiving votes in the March 27 update. He is the second Cowboy in program history to be named a semifinalist (2016).  The sophomore swept the men’s 5,000 meters during the 2025 season, claiming both the indoor and outdoor NCAA titles. The Machakos, Kenya native captured USTFCCCA’s Midwest Region’s Track Athlete of the Year for the 2025 indoor and outdoor seasons, the 2024 cross country season and was also named Big 12 Cross Country Men’s Runner of the Year.

Finalists will be announced in July.
