Arizona State’s 2024-25 Big 12 Athlete of the Year Nominees

The 2024-25 Big 12 Athlete of the Year nominees will be featured in alphabetical order by school starting Monday, July 14, through Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT.

Each institution nominated one male and one female athlete of any classification who competed for their institution during the 2024-25 school year. Student-athletes were required to be in good academic standing and must have participated in a league-sponsored sport.

The 16 full-membership schools that competed during the 2024-25 academic year are eligible.

The winners will be announced Thursday, July 24. Stay tuned to Big12Sports.com and the league’s social media platforms to see the rest of the candidates.

This afternoon’s featured candidates are Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo and Kenzie Brown.

Accomplishments
  • A First Team Associated Press All-American Running Back who led ASU to the Big 12 football title and College Football Playoff in the Sun Devils’ debut season in the league.
  • Named the Most Outstanding Player of the Big 12 Football Championship (170 rushing yards, three total touchdowns) and the Offensive MVP of the College Football Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (143 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards, 42 passing yards, three total touchdowns).
  • Earned 2024 First Team All-Big 12 honors while setting ASU records with 21 rushing touchdowns (sixth in the FBS) and adding 1,711 rushing and 2,316 scrimmage yards, both second in the FBS. He became the first FBS player with 1,7000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards since Christian McCaffrey in 2015, while he finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting.
  • Served on the inaugural Pat Tillman Leadership Council.

Kenzie Brown, Softball
Sr., Lake City, Ill.
Accomplishments
  • An NFCA First Team All-American who also received D1Softball and Softball America Second Team All-America recognition.
  • The pitcher earned unanimous All-Big 12 First Team honors while finishing fourth in the NCAA with 289 strikeouts.
  • Finished the season 19-8 with four saves and a 1.28 earned run average while ranking in the top five of the league in 11 statistical categories.
  • Honored as a CSC Academic All-District selection, she was also named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete while earning a spot on the Big 12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
