Baylor’s Tyler Isgrig and Texas Tech’s Taylor Zdrojewski share the Big 12 soccer’s weekly offensive player honor, while West Virginia’s Nyema Ingleton earned the league’s weekly defensive accolade. Houston’s Lexi Gonzalez captured the weekly goalkeeper award, while BYU’s Mia Goettsche rounds out this week’s award as the Conference’s best freshman during play last week.
Isgrig’s brace at Texas State marked the fourth dual-goal performance of the senior’s collegiate career. While the Bears captured a 4-1 victory, her goals were the only ones actually scored by Baylor as miscues led to the Bobcats being attributed two own goals. The senior played 77 minutes during the match after 78 minutes on the pitch against Texas. Isgrig, a 2024 All-Big 12 Second Team selection, collects her second Big 12 weekly accolade since being named Freshman of the Week during the 2022 season.
Zdrojewski’s fifth and sixth goals of the season spearheaded the Red Raiders’ 2-0 win over New Mexico State in Lubbock last Thursday. It only took seven minutes for the junior to record her second brace this season, knocking in goals during the 70
th and 77
th minutes. Zdrojewski, earning her second Big 12 soccer weekly award this season, leads TTU in goals and has started every match during the 2025 campaign.
Ingleton helped the Mountaineers claim their fourth shutout and third at home this season with a 3-0 victory over Army at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Calgary, Alberta native played every second in the matc, one of three WVU players and the only defender to do so. Army was held to three total shots and zero on target during the contest, marking the second game this season that WVU has held an opponent without a single shot on goal. Ingleton is the second Mountaineer in consecutive weeks to earn a weekly Big 12 honor.
Gonzalez did not concede a single goal in 135 minutes last week, facing McNeese and Stephen F. Austin. The FAU transfer tallied four saves in 90 minutes to collect her fifth shutout of the season as the Cougars tied SFA 0-0. Houston’s goalkeepers have only had one goal scored on them in six contests, leading the Big 12 and tied for fourth in the nation with a .17 goals-against average.
Goettsche’s brace helped BYU claim its first win over Utah State during the regular season in five years as the Cougars posted a 2-0 victory at home. The true freshman scored her first goal in the 17
th minute, less than a minute after she subbed onto the pitch. She then netted her final goal in the 33
rd minute before finishing the game with a season-high 60 minutes on the field. She earned her second game-winning goal performance of her career after claiming the game winner during the Cougars’ season-opener at Minnesota.
