Kansas State’s Shaylee Myers (offensive), UCF’s Reaghan Thompson (defensive) and Iowa State’s Alea Goolsby (rookie) took home Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the fourth week of the season.
Myers led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week, recording a Conference-leading 5.00 kills per set for the week. The outside hitter helped K-State take down then-No. 25 North Carolina as she became the sixth player in K-State’s rally-scoring era to record 27 kills in a single match. She added another 23 kills against East Carolina to give her double-digit kills in seven of the Wildcats’ eight matches this season. For the week, Myers totaled 57.5 points on 50 kills, five aces, four blocks, nine digs, and a .349 hitting efficiency on 106 swings. The senior leads the Big 12 and sits at No. 6 nationally in both kills per set (4.96) and points per set (5.54) for the 2025 season. It is the Lincoln, Nebraska native’s first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award and second Conference weekly accolade of her career. She was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Oct. 4, 2022.
Thompson finished the week with 22 blocks, including 19 in the Crimson Classic against Alabama and Memphis. The senior highlighted her week with 12 total blocks against Memphis, tied for the second-most blocks nationally in a four-set match this season, in a 3-1 win over the Tigers. Thompson became one of 11 active Division I players to surpass the 400 career blocks and is also the only player in the nation with 400 blocks and 800 kills in her career. Thompson is the first Knight to receive a Big 12 weekly award.
Goolsby produced two double-doubles as the Cyclones won all three of their matches for the week. The freshman led ISU in kills in all three matches and led both teams in kills in wins over Iowa and Illinois. She also extended her double-figure kill streak to four matches and has seven matches with 10+ kills this season. In addition, the outside hitter added 11 digs apiece in both matches against Illinois and Iowa. She ended the week with 52 points, 49 kills (fourth-most in the Big 12), 29 digs, four blocks and an ace. It is Goolsby’s first Conference honor.
