Iowa State nabbed the Big 12 Runner of the Week accolades behind Joash Ruto (men’s) and Mercyline Kirwa (women’s).

Ruto placed second in the field at the Gans Creek Classic as he traversed the 8K course in 22:33.7 by finishing ahead of teammates Sanele Masondo and Robin Kwemoi Bera by less than 20 seconds. With the podium finish, the sophomore led the Cyclones to their second meet title of the season.

Kirwa finished third overall in her first collegiate outing, finishing the Gans Creek Classic in 19:13.6. This is the freshman from Kenya’s first weekly Conference Honor.
