Utah’s Avery Neff (gymnast), Arizona State’s Reese Grolla (event specialist) and Denver’s Shyla Bhatia (newcomer) earned the first set of Big 12 gymnastics weekly awards for the 2026 season.
Neff posted a 9.775 and a 9.875 on beam and bars, respectively, as Utah competed against Oklahoma, LSU and UCLA at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah. The sophomore recorded the nation’s first perfect 10 of the season, rounding out the Red Rocks’ vault lineup. It was also her first 10.0 on the apparatus. She then finished out the meet earning a 9.875 on floor to tie for fourth in the event. Neff, the 2025 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, captured her first Conference gymnast of the week honor and her fifth career accolade.
Grolla’s debut as a Sun Devil included two event wins in a tri-meet against San Jose State and UC Davis. Her score of 9.850 in beam won the event outright, while she tied with a teammate for first place in bars with a 9.825. The Illinois State transfer earns her first career Big 12 award, while she is the second gymnast from ASU to collect a weekly honor since joining the league in 2024.
Bhatia’s collegiate debut helped the Pioneers defeat Stanford 196.575-196.475. The Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania native tallied a 9.800 on bars, tied for third on floor (9.875) and was the vault leader (9.925). Her vault score matched the program record for freshmen, while her score is tied nationally No. 2 in the NQS rankings.
