UH’s Marshall Jr. and UC’s Epps Take Home First 2026 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards

Houston’s Jamar Marshall Jr. and Cincinnati’s Kya Epps earned the first Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards of the 2026 season.

Marshall Jr. captured the men’s 60-meter hurdles title at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational with a time of 7.71 seconds. His time ranks as the fourth-fastest in the nation this season. Marshall becomes the first men’s indoor track and field athlete from Houston to earn a Big 12 weekly award.

Competing at the Rod McCravy Invitational, Epps won the women’s 200-meter title, clocking a time of 23.67. The senior also nabbed second place in the women’s 60-meter dash with a time of 7.47. Epps finished the invitational as part of the Bearcats’ 4x100 relay team, running a 3:39.98, finishing fifth overall and placed them as the ninth-fastest in the nation. She becomes the first Bearcat to earn a Big 12 Indoor Track and Field weekly accolade since Cincinnati joined the Conference in 2023-24.
