Utah’s Davis Stachelek (men’s swimmer), TCU’s David Ekdahl (men’s diver) and West Virginia’s Liam Aleman (men’s newcomer) were named the recipients of the Big 12 Men’s swimming and diving weekly awards, while BYU’s Lucy Warnick (women’s swimmer), Utah’s Kathryn Grant (women’s diver) and West Virginia’s Madalyn Witt (women’s newcomer) collected the women’s honors for competition ending Jan. 11.

Stachelek led Utah to a 165-132 road win over Denver, sweeping all four of his races, including a pair of freestyle events. The senior from Greenville, S.C. clocked a time of 20.36 in the 50 freestyle and 44.55 in the 100 freestyle. Stachelek also contributed relay legs of 43.68 in the 400 medley relay (3:14.06) and a 20.30 leadoff leg in the 200 free relay (1:20.78). He is the first Ute to be named Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Week since joining the Conference for the 2024-25 season.

Ekdahl swept the springboard events for TCU in the Horned Frogs’ meet against Texas UT-Permian Basin, winning the 1-meter (370.95) and 3-meter (414.90) with NCAA Zone qualifying scores for the second consecutive week. The graduate student’s 3-meter mark was a season-best and the first time he surpassed 400 points this year. It is his third weekly award this season and the 11th of his career.

Aleman earned his first career Big 12 weekly honor after earning two medals in West Virginia’s meet against Pittsburgh. The Gainesville, Fla. native won the 200 breaststroke (1:58.15) and added a second-place finish in the 200 IM (1:50.69). He was one of three Mountaineers to win a men’s individual event at the meet.

Warnick won three of her individual events for BYU in its meet at Denver. The Las Vegas native posted wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.70), 200 breaststroke (2:13.73) and 200 IM (2:01.62). Her 100 breaststroke time marked a personal best and the seventh-fastest time in BYU history. She also delivered a 28.19 breaststroke split on the Cougars’ runner-up 200 medley relay. It is her second Big 12 weekly honor of her career after being named Big 12 Women’s Newcomer of the Week on January 3, 2025.

Grant highlighted her week by winning the 1-meter dive (590.05) at the UCLA Diving Invite, which consisted of nine teams, including No. 18 USC and host UCLA. The senior from Ontario, Canada added top-six finishes on the 3-meter (567.00) and platform dives (475.05), continuing her perfect streak of finishing no lower than sixth in any event this season. Her performance helped the Utah women claim second place in the team standings and secured her second Conference weekly award this season.

Witt became the second Mountaineer this season to be named Big 12 Women’s Newcomer of the Week with a podium finish in the 200 backstroke (1:59.35) against Pittsburgh. The Nokesville, Va. native clocked the ninth-fastest time in WVU program history to secure the silver medal.
