Big 12 Conference Announces Softball Preseason Television Programs

The Big 12 Conference has unveiled the preseason television programming for softball ahead of the 2026 season, including two virtual media day shows and a season preview show.

Big 12 Softball Media Days will be broadcast live on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CT and Thursday, Jan. 29, from 10-11:30 a.m. CT on ESPN+, BYUtv, Big 12 Studios and the Conference’s YouTube channel.

BYUtv’s Spencer Linton will host the two-day broadcast with Big 12 alumni Cat Osterman and Rachel Becker joining the show as analysts as they chat with all 11 programs.

Linton, Osterman and Becker will also host the Big 12 Softball Preview Show on ESPNU on Monday, Feb. 2 (time will be announced at a later date), where they will discuss each Big 12 softball team. The show will re-air on the network the following day.

Osterman, a three-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, is the Big 12’s all-time career leader in victories, earned run average, strikeouts and shutouts. She captured the league’s Pitcher of the Year title in 2002-03 and 2005-06 and was named to the Conference’s 10th Anniversary Team. During her softball career, she earned a gold and two silver medals representing Team USA in the 2004, 2008 and 2020 Olympics.

Becker began her collegiate career at Purdue University (2019-2022) before joining the Oklahoma State Cowgirls in 2023. She led the Conference in batting (.443), while ranking within the nation’s top 10 in hits (81, sixth), on-base percentage (.558, eighth) and doubles per game (.35, ninth). Becker helped OSU outlast Oregon in the 2023 Stillwater Super Regional to advance to its fourth consecutive NCAA Women’s College World Series.

Linton graduated from BYU in 2007 and has been with BYUtv since 2013, serving as a play-by-play sportscaster, sideline reporter and the host of BYUtv Sports Nation.

Three Big 12 teams were ranked in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Preseason Poll, which was headlined by Texas Tech sharing the top spot after its first WCWS appearance a season ago.
