BYU’s Max Kleinman (men’s swimmer), Martí Llop (men’s diver) and Tatum Cooley (women’s swimmer) were joined by Cincinnati’s Sawyer Tapp (men’s newcomer) and Campbell Lively (women’s diver) and Kansas’ Ivy Solt (women’s newcomer) as the recipients of this week’s Big 12 swimming and diving awards.
Kleinman swept all five events he participated in during BYU’s meet against Air Force and Central Michigan. He recorded an individual event winning time of 19.76 in the 50 freestyle before helping four Cougar relays to gold medals. The sophomore recorded a 19.60 leadoff split in the 200 freestyle relay and added anchor legs of 19.15 (200 medley relay), 42.64 (400 medley relay) and 43.05 (400 freestyle relay). He helped the Cougars post Richard Building Pool records in both the 400 medley and 200 free relays. It is his first weekly award this season and second of his career.
Llop topped the leaderboards in both diving events he competed in for the Cougars, with winning scores of 331.20 in the 1-meter dive and 358.25 in the 3-meter event. The Barcelona native helped BYU score 231 team points to win the meet over Air Force and Central Michigan. It is his third weekly award of the 2025-26 season.
Tapp took home two individual event titles, while adding one relay title in Cincinnati’s dual meet against Xavier. He captured the 100 backstroke (48.93) and 50 freestyle (21.03) titles before contributing to a Bearcats’ win in the 200 medley relay (1:30.74). The Louisville, Kentucky native is the third Bearcat this season to be named Big 12 Men’s Newcomer of the Week.
Cooley collected five top-placed finishes, with four relay titles and an individual event victory for BYU. She highlighted her meet with a Richard Building Pool record of 49.74 in the 100 freestyle, the fifth-fastest time in BYU history. The junior added four relay anchor legs, including 22.43 and 22.47 splits on the Cougars’ winning 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays, respectively. She also anchored BYU’s 400 medley (49.42) and 400 freestyle (49.83) relays. The 200 freestyle relay was a BYU program record as well as a Richard Building pool record, while the 400 medley relay was also a Richard Building Pool record.
