IRVING, Texas – Cincinnati earned four weekly awards from media voters for its 37-24 win over then-No. 8 Texas Tech, while Arizona State, UCF, Kansas and Oklahoma State also had players recognized in the Monster Energy Big 12 Football honors for Week Eight. Over half of all award winners played in their team’s win over a nationally-ranked opponent on Saturday.
Jenkins orchestrated UCF’s 39-31 double overtime win over then-No. 2 BYU, completing 25 of his 41 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns. The senior from Opa-Locka, Florida also ran for 35 yards and a score in the victory. He threw two of his touchdowns in the overtime periods as the Knights defeated their highest-ranked opponent in program history.
Running for 173 yards on just 16 carries and scoring twice in Cincinnati’s victory over the then-No. 8 Red Raiders,
Tabb’s 58-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the first rushing score allowed by Texas Tech this season. He also became the first 100-yard rusher allowed by the Red Raiders since the final week of the 2024 season, doing so with an average of 10.8 yards per carry.
Cannon finished UC’s win over then-top-10 Texas Tech with eight tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and a pass breakup. Both of his forced turnovers came on key drives, with a forced fumble to open the game and the interception to close the first half that set up the Bearcats for a touchdown. Saturday also marked his second game of the season with a forced fumble and an interception, doing so in Cincinnati’s season-opening win over Boston College.
With a pair of interceptions to go along with eight tackles, one-and-a-half tackles for a loss and a pass breakup,
Fields was pivotal in Oklahoma State’s 57-24 win over Colorado. He was the only Big 12 player and one of two FBS players to pick off two passes last week as both of his interceptions set up scoring drives for the Cowboys. Fields and his teammates were able to shutout Colorado in the second half after giving up 24 points before halftime.
Herold secured a Kansas win over Baylor by blocking the Bears’ game-winning field goal attempt with 22 seconds remaining. The block helped give KU its first win over Baylor since 2007.
Keltner earned weekly honors for the fourth time this season after making all five of his field goal attempts and six extra points. He made a pair of 30-yard field goals as well as kicks from 21, 41 and 47 yards out. He tied the most made field goals in a game in Oklahoma State history as well as most field goals made by an FBS player this season.
Mack earned his second Freshman of the Week award with 26 carries for 159 yards and four touchdowns in Arizona State’s 28-17 victory over K-State. He became the first Sun Devil freshman to record four rushing touchdowns in a game since 1955. ASU had not had any player rush for a quartet of scores in a game since 2016 before Saturday’s win. Mack’s 159 rushing yards were the most by an Arizona State freshman in 21 seasons.
Blocking for Offensive Player of the Week Cole Tabb,
Cincinnati’s offensive line opened up lanes for the Bearcats to rush for 252 yards as part of its 427 yards of total offense and 37 points over then-No. 8 Texas Tech. The line also blocked for quarterback JC French IV to throw a career-high four touchdowns.
Cincinnati also had the Defensive Line of the Week in its win over the Red Raiders, helping the UC defense record four sacks, seven tackles for a loss and three turnovers. The unit allowed only 47 total yards in the second quarter and held Texas Tech to 3-of-15 on third down conversions.
