Featured 2/12/2026 1:00:00 PM LOGAN PHILLIP NAMED GENERAL COUNSEL FOR THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE IRVING, Texas – Logan Phillip has been named General Counsel for the Big 12 Conference. Phillip previously served as Interim General Counsel and Associate Vice President for Legal Affairs, advising the Conference through periods of commercial expansion, governance transition and regulatory change. In her new role, she will serve as the chief legal advisor to the Commissioner, Conference leadership, and member institutions, providing strategic legal, compliance, governance, and risk-management guidance. She will also lead the Conference’s in-house commercial legal function and advise on enterprise-level media, sponsorship, licensing, technology, and NIL-related initiatives across the Big 12. “Logan has been a trusted advisor during a pivotal time for the Conference,” said Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark. “Her thoughtful counsel, business mindset and steady leadership make her a tremendous asset to our league. We’re proud to name her General Counsel and look forward to the impact she will continue to make.” Phillip has led legal strategy on several of the Big 12’s most notable agreements for both the Conference and its commercial arm, Big 12 Enterprises, including the league’s first conference-wide partnership with PayPal. She played a significant role in establishing the Conference’s first in-house commercial legal department, transitioning the organization from a fully outsourced model to an integrated internal function supporting the Big 12’s expanding business operations. During her tenure, Phillip has advanced through a series of progressively senior roles, including Associate Vice President of Legal Affairs (2024-26), Senior Director of Legal Affairs and Compliance (2022-24), and Assistant Director for Compliance & Governance (2020-22). Prior to joining the Big 12 in 2020, Phillip held roles within collegiate athletics, including positions at UC Santa Barbara (2018-20) and Texas Tech University (2016-17). She also served as a legal extern with Spurs Sports & Entertainment in 2018. A Grapevine, Texas native, Phillip earned her Juris Doctor with a concentration in Business Law from Texas Tech University School of Law and is a member of the State Bar of Texas. She graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma State University with a major in Sports Media, Multimedia Journalism.
