The Oklahoma State trio of Claire Timm (player), Ruby Meylan (pitcher) and Gabby Castillo (co-freshman), along with UCF’s Hildie Dempsey (co-freshman) collected Big 12 softball week three awards.
Timm posted a .727 batting average (8-of-11) after recording at least one hit in each game for the Cowgirls as they went 5-0 last week. The senior opened her week going 3-for-3 at the plate against Kansas City, which included two triples. She rounded out the week slugging 1.455 and had a .750 on-base percentage. This is Timm’s first league honor of her career.
Meylan held all opposing batters to a .027 average over 12 innings against Texas State and Colorado State, earning two complete-game wins. She held the Bobcats to one hit and threw seven strikeouts before she recorded her first career no-hitter against the Rams. Her no-hitter was the first by a Cowgirl since 2023 and the program’s 64
th overall no-hit contest. Meylan only allowed four baserunners as she captured her fourth weekly Conference accolade.
Dempsey was one of two Big 12 pitchers with five or more innings pitched to finish the week with a 0.00 ERA. She held batters from Ohio, Penn State and Notre Dame to a combined eight hits and two unearned runs over 12.1 innings pitched. The contest against the Fighting Irish led to a career-best five strikeouts for the freshman and marked the Jefferson, Wisconsin native’s first collegiate complete game. Dempsey is the second UCF player to earn the league’s weekly freshman award this season.
Castillo went 5-for-6 from the plate in games against Kansas City and Brown, scoring five runs and five RBI. The hits and RBI were the first of her career for the Richmond, Texas native. Castillo produced a .900 on-base percentage and had a 1.000 slugging average.
