BYU’s Jane Hedengren and K-State’s Tah Chikomba were tabbed as the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field athletes of the week.
After earning a spot on The Bowerman Preseason Watch List, Hedengren placed third at the Millrose Games with a time of 8:34.98 in the women’s 3000 meters. The true freshman broke BYU’s program record of 8:40.60 set by Lexi Halladay-Lowry in 2025. This is Hedengren’s first Conference indoor track and field weekly honor.
Chikomba claimed the long jump title during the Deloss Dodds Invitational. The junior leaped 8.09 meters. His mark leads the Big 12 and sits at No. 2 in this season’s top marks nationally. Chikomba is the first Wildcat to earn a men’s weekly indoor track and field honor since the 2020 season as the K-State men claimed the No. 1 spot in the USTCCA Poll, the first program to earn the top spot across all school sponsored sports in 14 years.
