Arizona State Highlights 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship Titles with NCAA Record

GREENSBORO, N.C.– Arizona State swept the men’s and women’s team titles at the 2026 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championship presented by Allstate, closing out the meet Saturday night at Greensboro Aquatic Center with an NCAA record in the Men’s 400-yard Freestyle Relay. The Sun Devils secured the women’s crown with 1,660.5 points, while the men’s team finished atop the standings with 1,898.5 points.
 
Arizona finished runner-up in both team races, posting 1,442.5 points on the women’s side and 1,552.5 points in the men’s standings. Houston placed third in the women’s team race with 1,194.5 points, while Utah rounded out the men’s podium with 1,305 points.
 
Arizona State’s Ilya Kharun (Men’s Swimmer), Deniz Ertan (Women’s Swimmer) and Albane Cachot (Women’s Swimming Newcomer) were joined by Arizona’s Duncan Henderson (Men’s Swimming Newcomer) as the recipients of the swimming “Of the Meet” awards. For the diving “Of the Meet” awards, Houston’s Michelle McLeod (Women’s Diver) and Maisy Woloszyn (Women’s Diving Newcomer) took home the women’s awards while Arizona’s Luke Hernandez was named both the Men’s Diver of the Meet and Men’s Diving Newcomer of the Meet.
 
The final session began with Arizona’s Kayman Neal taking home the women’s 200 backstroke crown with a time of 1:52.44. Arizona State’s Gerda Szilagyi placed second (1:53.79), followed by Houston’s Elizabeth Jimenez in third (1:55.08).
 
Arizona State swept the top two spots in the men’s 200 backstroke, led by Adam Chaney’s Big 12 Championship record-setting time of 1:38.33. His teammate JT Ewing grabbed second in 1:39.72, while Arizona’s Alex Desangles placed third at 1:41.43.
 
The women’s 100 freestyle title went to Cachot, who touched first in 47.42 for another Big 12 Championship record. Arizona’s Julia Wozniak (48.46) and Riley Botton (48.73) completed the podium.
 
Remi Fabiani set a Big 12 Conference record, winning the men’s 100 freestyle in 40.67. Jonny Kulow finished second at 41.47, while Arizona’s Tomas Lukminas placed third in 41.89.
In the women’s 1650 freestyle, Arizona State took the top two spots as Ertan captured the title in 16:06.04 and Alexa Reyna followed closely behind at 16:18.42. Houston’s Emma Overall placed third (16:32.70) to earn the bronze medal. On the men’s side, Utah’s Nick Chirafisi won the 1650 freestyle in 14:52.65, edging Arizona State’s Noah Mudadu (15:02.39) and BYU’s Easton Mousser (15:04.55).
 
Houston’s Flo Peter won the women’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.11, followed by TCU’s Nina Vadovicova (2:09.47) and Arizona’s Eleni Gewalt (2:10.08). Arizona State’s trio of Andy Dobrzanski (1:51.92), Brayden Taivassalo (1:52.33) and Lucien Vergnes (1:53.02)   swept the top three places in the men’s 200 breaststroke immediately after.
 
In the women’s platform dive, Houston’s McLeod claimed the event title with a score of 319.75, while Arizona State’s Kayden Hayes finished runner-up (254.10) and Arizona’s Zara Ayazi secured bronze (245.60).
 
The 400-yard freestyle relays closed the Championship, concluding the night and the meet with a splash. Arizona State took the women’s 400 freestyle relay in 3:12.86, followed by Arizona (3:13.55) and Cincinnati (3:18.02). Then in the final event, the Sun Devils capped the meet with an NCAA-record setting time of 2:42.15 in the men’s 400 freestyle relay, finishing ahead of Arizona (2:48.86) and Utah (2:52.42).
 
The top four finishers in each event earned All-Big 12 First Team honors, while athletes placing fifth through eighth were named to the Second Team. Full Championship results can be viewed here.
