OSU Sends Eight to Championship Bouts, Leads Team Standings After Day One of Big 12 Wrestling Championship Presented by Allstate

TULSA, Okla. – With eight victories in nine of its semifinal matches, Oklahoma State ended the opening day of the 2026 Big 12 Wrestling Championship in first place with 154.5 points. The Cowboys placed a wrestler in championship bouts in eight of the ten weight classes on Saturday at the BOK Center.

OSU holds a 32-point lead in the team competition after Friday, with Iowa State (122.5), Arizona State (78.5) and Missouri (70.5) rounding out the top four of the leaderboard.

The top-seeded wrestler in each of the 10 weight classes advanced to the championship round, facing the No. 2 seed in six of those final matches. Three of the other championship matches will pit the top-ranked wrestler against the division’s third seed.

Saturday will feature the final two sessions of the 2026 Big 12 Wrestling Championship presented by Allstate. The consolation bracket will begin at 12 p.m. CT before the championship session at 7 p.m. CT, with both sessions airing on ESPN+.

125-Pound Division
The top two seeds in the class, Troy Spratley from Oklahoma State and Stevo Poulin from Iowa State, advanced to Saturday’s championship round after both picked up a trio of wins on Friday. Spratley earned 12-1, 8-0 and 9-0 major decisions while Poulin scored a pair of decisions.

133-Pound Division
At 133 pounds, the top two ranked wrestlers also advanced to the championship final on Saturday. No. 1 Jax Forrest, a freshman from OSU, dispatched three opponents with technical falls. Freshman Kyler Larkin, the No. 2 seed from Arizona State, recorded an 8-1 decision and an 11-3 major decision enroute to his championship appearance.

141-Pound Division
Saturday’s championship at 141 pounds will be top ranked Sergio Vega from OSU and second seed Anthony Echemendia from ISU. Vega opened the day with a pair of major decisions before capping his day with 4-0 decision over South Dakota State’s Julian Tagg, the No. 4 seed. Echemendia overcame an early deficit against Oklahoma’s Tyler Wells before scoring a pair of points in the third period to win the semifinal match.

149-Pound Division
The biggest semifinal upset of the championship took place in the 149-pound division as Northern Iowa’s Caleb Rathjen, the No. 6 seed, used a takedown in the third period to topple second-ranked Jacob Frost from Iowa State. Rathjen will face OSU’s Casey Swiderski, who earned a pair of decisions and a 15-3 major decision, as the No. 1 wrestler at 149 pounds.

157-Pound Division
The Big 12 Championship at 157 pounds will pit top-seeded Kaleb Larkin from Arizona State against OSU’s Landon Robideau, the No. 2 ranked competitor in the division. Larkin opened Friday with a pair of 20-3 technical falls before a takedown in the final 90 seconds of his semifinal against WVU’s Ty Watters. Robideau punched his ticket to the finals after a pair of major decisions on Friday.

165-Pound Division
LaDarian Lockett, the top seeded wrestler in the division, gave OSU another Cowboy in the finals with a convincing 11-2 major decision against his Iowa State opposition in the semifinals. Arizona State’s Nicco Ruiz will face Locket after taking down the No. 2 seed, UNI’s Ryder Downey with a third period takedown for the 6-5 decision.

174-Pound Division
Saturday’s finale at 174 pounds will feature No. 1 Alex Facundo from OSU versus No. 3 Cam Steed from Missouri. Steed took down second-seeded Carter Schubert from Oklahoma in his semifinal match, winning a 4-3 decision. Facundo recorded a takedown and an escape to score four points in the third period of his semifinal victory over ISU’s MJ Gaitan.

184-Pound Division
Missouri’s Aeoden Sinclair (No. 1 seed) will face Wyoming’s Eddie Neitenbach (No. 3 seed) for the Big 12 title at 184 pounds on Saturday. Both wrestlers advanced after scoring 6-2 and 5-1 decisions, respectively, in the semifinals. Sinclair is one of the Tigers’ two wrestlers who will compete for a championship on Saturday. Neitenbach is one of three No. 3 seeds to advance to a championship bout.

197-Pound Division
The championship bout in the 197-pound division will be a battle between Iowa State and Wyoming. ISU’s Rocky Elam is the top seed who tallied a pair of decisions and a major decision on Friday.  Joey Novack defeated OSU’s Cody Merrill in sudden victory in the semifinals to advance as the No. 2 seed.

285-Pound Division
The heavyweight finale will feature the top two ranked wrestlers in the division, featuring No. 1 Yonger Bastida from Iowa State and No. 2 Konner Doucet from Oklahoma State. Bastida pinned ASU’s David Szuba in the first period of his semifinal bout to advance to Saturday. Doucet scored a victory over Luke Rasmussen from South Dakota State in the semifinals with a 4-2 decision.
