Arizona State’s Samantha Swan (co-player) and Kenzie Brown (pitcher) reclaimed their weekly recognition, while Oklahoma State’s Tia Warsop (co-player) and Utah’s Payton Crank (freshman) also picked up honors.
Swan slashed .615/.688/1.000 last week in contests against then-No. 19/24 Grand Canyon and Houston. She batted 1.000 in back-to-back games against the Cougars, while she went 7-for-9 from the plate. Swan tallied six runs and drove in six, while collecting 12 total bases as ASU swept Houston. In the field, the junior posted a 1.000 fielding percentage after converting all 39 chances.
Brown threw 35 strikeouts last week, surpassing the 28 that she threw the week before. She began her week by fanning 16 batters from GCU, which were the most recorded by the Lopes since becoming a DI program, as the Sun Devils recorded their first-ever win in the Lopes’ territory. Brown then threw another double-digit (12) strikeout game in the series opener against Houston before ending the week with seven in the series finale. The senior posted a 0.74 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and held opponents to a .108 batting average with only two earned runs and 10 walks.
Warsop was one of two Big 12 batters to post a batting average of .570 or better last week, recording at least a hit in all four of the Cowgirls’ games. The junior recorded two hits and earned two RBIs as the OSU squad captured its first win over the No. 1-ranked team since 2022, with a 6-4 victory over Oklahoma. She then went on to land six hits and three RBIs in the Big 12 series against then-No. 16 Arizona, helping the Cowgirls win the series. This is the Englishwoman’s first Big 12 weekly honor and the second Conference Player of the Week honor for the Cowgirls this season.
Crank went 8-for-16 from the plate in games against Montana and Baylor. The Phoenix native doubled twice, homered and had five RBIs as the Utes outscored the Grizzlies 14-3 in a midweek doubleheader. She recorded three hits, three RBIs and a home run in the Conference series at Baylor. The freshman also had a perfect fielding percentage, catching all seven possible chances. Crank is the third freshman from the Ute program this season to be recognized for the league’s award for first-year players.
