Arizona State’s Jayden Davis (men’s) and BYU’s Jane Hedengren (women’s) were tabbed as the Big 12 Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets through April 19.
Davis claimed the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays title with a 44.29 dash in the 400 meters, beating the next-closest collegian by over a half-second. The junior broke the 58-year-old program record with his efforts. Davis now owns the men’s 400m dash program records in both indoor and outdoor season, having previously set the indoor record with a time of 45.06 in 2025. He currently leads the Big 12, NCAA and World rankings in the event. This is his second weekly Conference accolade, and first this season.
On the women’s side, Hedengren earned the Bryan Clay Invitational 5,000 meters title, clocking a time of 14:50.50, outpacing the field by eight seconds and beating former BYU runner Lexy Halladay-Lowry in the professional invite. The freshman now holds the NCAA indoor and outdoor collegiate records in the event. Hedengren was tabbed as the co-USTFCCCA Division I Co-Women’s National Athlete of the Week for her accomplishment. She is the first DI women’s track and field athlete to earn the national accolade twice this outdoor season.
