Arizona and Oklahoma State Procure Big 12 Softball Penultimate Weekly Accolades

Arizona’s Sydney Stewart (player) and Rylie Holder (freshman), along with Oklahoma State’s Ruby Meylan (pitcher), captured the league’s weekly recognition for their performances in games played during week 12.

Stewart helped the Wildcats sweep Houston as she posted a perfect 5.000 OPS. In the series opener, she went 2-for-2 at the plate, hitting two home runs, and was responsible for eight of Arizona’s nine runs in the 9-1 victory. She was later walked six times in the final two games, scoring five runs and driving in another three in the finale after a home run. The senior catcher reached base in all 12 of her plate appearances, recording nine walks and three home runs. This is her second honor this season, previously earning recognition during week five.

Holder threw 8.0 innings for the Wildcats in two games of the Conference series. She pitched a shutout in game two, only allowing three hits from the Cougars, while setting a career high with five strikeouts. The freshman from Fulshear, Texas, then closed out the series finale in relief, holding Houston scoreless in three innings as Arizona came back to earn a 15-4 victory. Holder finished her week with a 0.00 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP as she picked up her first Big 12 weekly honor.

Meylan pitched three complete games last week to extend her streak to eight consecutive games, which is the most by a Cowgirl since 2020. The senior came up huge in a top-20 matchup at Texas, holding the Longhorns to only two hits in Austin. The game was her fourth-ranked win in seven days, a feat that no other Cowgirl pitcher has ever accomplished. She ended the week holding Baylor to 10 hits, three runs and two earned runs in two of the three series games. Meylan threw 11 total strikeouts last week and had a 0.67 ERA. This is her fourth honor this season and seventh overall Big 12 honor.

This week marks the final series of the regular season for Big 12 teams. Texas Tech claimed the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed of the 2026 Big 12 Softball Tournament presented by Allstate. The top eight teams in the standings following Sunday’s season closers advance to the Tournament, held at Devon Park in OKC, May 7-9. Tickets are available at Big12Sports.com.
