BYU and KU Tabbed Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

BYU’s Jane Hedengren and KU’s Anthony Meacham were named the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Hedengren made her debut in the women’s 10,000 meters event by clocking a time of 30:46.80 to win the Stanford Invitational title. The freshman’s time currently leads both the nation and the Big 12. Hedengren was also named the Division I USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week, becoming the first Big 12 outdoor track athlete to earn the national accolade this season.

On the men’s side, Meacham won the Battle on the Bayou pole vault title with a nation leading mark of 5.80 meters (19-0.25 feet). Clearing 19 feet, he became the 21st collegiate athlete to achieve that height outdoors.
