The 2006 Big 12 Wrestling Championship is scheduled for March 4 at
Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University campus. This marks the
third time that ISU has hosted the event in conference history. The
Cyclones sponsored the 1999 and 2004 championships, and become one of
three schools which have hosted the league meet at least twice along
with Missouri (1997 and 2003) and Oklahoma (1998 and 2002).
To date, Oklahoma State has won seven of the nine previous titles
(1997-98, 2000-2001, 2003-05) and added its third consecutive national
crown as a member of the Big 12 Conference last season. Oklahoma claimed
the other two conference meets in 1999 and 2002.
Individually, eight of the 10 weight class champions return to the
championship field, including 2005 Big 12 Most Outstanding Wrestler
Coleman Scott of Oklahoma State.
